Did you know that 45% of people snore occasionally and 25% snore every night to the point of having to sleep in separate rooms? People often believe that snoring is directly related to obesity, menopause, being male, or being older, and snoring can get worse with age.

Statistically, adults can snore 2.46 times per night for a duration of 22 minutes per night.

The risk factors for snoring are the following:

  • Being a man

  • Being overweight

  • Have narrowed airways

  • Drink alcohol

  • Have nasal problems (deviation, etc)

  • Have a family history of sleep disorder or sleep apnea

Social problems caused by snoring:

How to solve and deal with this issue

It is important to detect and take seriously sleep disorders such as snoring. A sleep architecture study (polysomnography) must be performed in order to evaluate the problem, distinguish snoring from chronic obstructive apnea, and determine the severity and problems caused by snoring. The results will be analyzed by a team of ENT specialists, neurologists, pneumologist and respiratory therapists to determine the best treatment for you. The most common treatments are CPAP and mandibular advancement prostheses.
